Scholastic

Good morning guys. I just wanted to share with you a great teacher resource. Many of you have heard of Scholastic books, but their website is phenomenal as well. I chose this site for my web page evaluation assignment and found that there are many useful activities, ideas, and lessons in the site. There is a designated area for teachers, students, and parents. Please check it out. I hope you guys enjoy it. Here's the link: http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/home.jsp

Thanks for sharing Denise. I thought that this website was a wealth of information. I especially like the teacher's lesson planning section. This is a website that I will definitely use once I become a teacher!

Denise,

Thanks for the website...I never knew that had helpful tips and tools on their website aside from selling books. I'll never forget the good old days when my mother would give me some money when Scholastic was coming into my school. Do they still do that today? Thanks for the tip.

I use this website and agree that it is a wonderful resource for teachers. All of its components help engage and motivate students and assist teachers with lesson plans, ideas and helpful hints.

My elementary school is having a book fair in two weeks, sponsored by Scholastic. The children get very excited about it every year. The librarian even gets incentive money, from Scholastic, which enables her to give each child a free book. I think it is important for students to hold and own their own books as well. When students choose a book, they take ownership of it. It becomes their personal property and this is also something special and individual to their own interests.

The use of online tools are beneficial but are supplemental. Scholastic is a super promoter for fostering the love of reading. Being able to tap into Scholastic online gives everyone a way to access and enhance learning in their classrooms.

This site is complete, with everything you need, including up to date holiday lessons and activities too. It is definitely a tool that everyone should be aware of and utilize. You'll love it and so will your students. I think it's a great supplemental tool!
